When my trolling motor is on the highest speed, and I am trying to back up the boat, the motor bracket always slips so that the motor is tilted forward. Is this by design? The problem is that it doesn't easily go back to vertical, so when I pull the motor out of the water, it doesn't want to go back into place on the boat. It's sort of stuck in that forward position and the bracket won't fold up properly. Any thoughts?

No, I don't have a spring mount. It's the breakaway mount. It's actually the "breakaway" part of the bracket that is slipping. I think it's designed to come forward if the motor hits something to prevent the shaft from breaking. I just can't seem to get it to stay put under normal operation. I will have to check the tension of my breakaway knobs.
