Being an old timer, I'd say the worst by far is the point that bass fishing became a "sport" rather than a pass time. Competition breeds rudeness. The best has been the graphite rod.

Competition fuels the innovation in the sport. I have more problems with people that were not raised with respect. To bad you can not wait for em at the boat ramp like old days. You risk loosing all your rights if any confrontation starts. This is the bad and ugly for me. Not a single thing you can do to someone hole jumping and fallowing you.

The best would be the worm, the new a/m vest, then catch and release. Worst would be Sport Fishing for money and draging fish around in livewells.

TAKE A PHOTO HOME NOT THE FISH. CATCH AND RELEASE Set the hook first and ask questions later.

Haha. The "GPS". Yep. Pretty good. Went fishing with my step dad on Christmas Day. I was showing him the lake on Navionics in the morning. He went and drug out paper maps he's had for years. With spots circled all over it. Lol. Needless to say, his 20yr old circles held fish.
GPS is a crutch! Makes anglers think they know a lake.
GPS, structure scan, side scan.... Blah blah blah. 90% of "new anglers" wouldn't know a good spot if they saw it. Myself included, I guess. 9 out of 10 of my best fishing days were not due to graphs. Instinct was the key.
Graphs with GPS have probably saved a few lower units though.
My best thing? Equipment in general. Rods, reels, tackle, etc. worst thing? The peer pressure from others to have a $60k+ boat to catch a bass.....and flat billed caps.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Good: The advancement of tournament fishing, especially high school organizations, that have grown the industry, allowed for old farts that have left other sports to have somewhere to compete, and being family friends together as a team.
Bad: Number of anglers on the water making our waters less of a tranquil place.
Ugly: Fishermen on the water that lack pride and respect. For the most part, probably because of the "good" listed above.
