Okay since I may not be the only one dealing with this I thought I would see if I am on the right track.
I recently moved my 1198 up front, and it seems to be working fine. I bought an 1199 and put it on the console, and it is the one with issues.
Here is what I am seeing, on the network tab for GPS I get "No Fix" on the external GPS. Friday when I was out, I was loosing my track while running into a shallow area, so I was forced to idle out with no track. I also occasionally get the message on the 1199 regarding GPS local.
I believe from my research that my battery may be the problem. The 998 drew 780mA, while the 1100 series draw 1.3 Amps. I think I may need a bigger battery to run two 1100 series units, pumps, power poles etc. Currently I am running a Continental 24M-1000 cranking battery that is coming up on 3 years of use. It has been a good battery up until now.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

Did you extend each unit's power cord directly to the battery with at least 14 gauge wire?

Wayne, one more comment, since installing the 1199 I have noticed that my voltage was below 12 continuously while the big motor was off.
Thanks again.

You need a power connection that is not part of the boat wiring harness.
That can be an additional factory fuse panel just for the electronics at the console and bow. Not many boat companies do that. They don't realize or care about the power requirements of the latest sofisticated electronics.
The recommended power connection is to extend the unit power cord directly to the battery with at least 14 gauge wire (larger is better) and use a spade type fuse/waterproof holder at the battery on the positive conductor. Solder and waterproof the wire splices.
After the wiring issue is taken care of, the battery itself has to have the capacity to run the electronics and support engine starting and the other loads (pumps, lights, etc).

Sorry not answering for Wayne, but that 24M may be the issue. The Pro XS may need a bit more power with those electronics or minimum a 27M, with a minimum of 1000 CCA. The 24M-1000 has 800 CCA, that's at the bottom won't last long.( I had the same w/two 10's, S/S and Hydrowave running)

Thanks guys, time to go to work! I've been suspicious of the 24M for a while.

Thanks guys, time to go to work! I've been suspicious of the 24M for a while. If you have the room, get the biggest battery with the highest MCA and reserve capacity you can find. The Sears Platinum PM-1 size 31 is the one most recommended, but those are no longer available-- something similar.

I have been looking at the X2Power from Batteries+Bulbs. The 31 starting battery has 1150 CCA. With a 48 month replacement it looks pretty good.
