Today was a special day on Dunlap. My son, my sister, and I decided to brave the 80% rain forecast and
head out to Dunlap in search of big perch. This decision paid off as my sister caught TWO fish that qualified
for the Texas Big Fish Award for sunfish. She has been looking for a big red ear since fall of last year and
today she scored a really nice one. An 11 inch fish that went a shade over 1 pound. She also caught a very
nice Rio at 10 inches and a little over 3/4 pound. We caught a lot of fish today and returned most to the water
but kept some for a fish fry. Most of our good fish were in shallow water today, around 4 feet. We caught
4 Rios total. Fishing on the bottom with worms.

All in all a wonderful day and one to be thankful for during this holiday weekend !

December is a very good month for catching BIG Redear!

How is the current flow out there on Dunlap?

When we were there on Friday it was back to what I call "normal". It seems they had cut back on the output from Canyon Lake. They had been dumping after the flood a few weeks ago, but it was back to normal flow.

Looks like they are releasing water again at post flood levels.

By the way, when you are taking measurements you should squeeze the tail, those fish are actually a little longer than measured.
