Made a single pie using this recipe. It was great. I think I will cut the sugar by a quarter of a cup next time.

Do you eat this immediately or do you let it set up for a while?

Eat immediately. Here's what it looks like about 30 minutes out of the oven.

I like mine cold, an hour stay in the freezer is good as it gets. I like all my pie cold.

I love them! Question: what is difference between this and a chess pie?

Chess pie is made with evaporated milk and vinegar. This is buttermilk. It has a creamier, richer flavor in my opinion.

By Far the best pie in the land. Toad33 on here his mom has won the blue ribbon at the Sate Fair of Texas for her buttermilk pie. I love hers and most others. When I try to make them they just never seem to turn out correctly. It may be my oven.

Just ate my first piece, 1 cup of sugar, an awesome keeper. If gone in 3 days does remainder need refrigeration?

It's eggs and dairy. Yes, it needs refrigeration.

Thanks Kat thumb
Love buttermilk pie but have never made it,followed your recipe exactly and it turned out great. The frozen Mrs Smith's extra flaky pie crust is excellent too.

I made this Buttermilk pie today and it already looks like the one pictured above... it is soooo goooood! I did reduce the sugar by about 1/4 cup. I have it hidden in the frig now, so maybe it will last until noon tomorrow. Kattelyn certainly knows about the art of cooking and baking! Now I'm just wondering if there is a simple recipe for chocolate pecan pie??? The recipe for choc. pecan pie I tried at Thanksgiving turned out a total flop.... Thanks Kattelyn for sharing your expertise with some of us less gifted in the kitchen sciences!

I picked up a big buttermilk pie at Woody’s in Centerville on the way down here. It’s in the fridge untouched as yet.

I think I'll make another one of these Buttermilk pies as a chaser for my chocolate birthday cake tomorrow... Chocolate cake with 7-minute frosting has always been my favorite, but Kattelyn"s Buttermilk pie sure is hard to beat!!!!

I love buttermilk pie. I have my own recipe I have perfected over the years. This recipe looks wonderful too.
I do add cinnamon on top of mine right before putting in over and swirl it in, then cook.

I made both last week. This recipe, which is very good. I made mine with 2 cups of sugar and cinnamon. 3 cups is too much sugar for me.

I also made my chocolate pie which won the taste test of all three.
