I get a sugar high just reading the recipe. One of my old time favorites.

Made a single pie using this recipe. It was great. I think I will cut the sugar by a quarter of a cup next time.

Do you eat this immediately or do you let it set up for a while?

Eat immediately. Here's what it looks like about 30 minutes out of the oven.

Do you eat this immediately or do you let it set up for a while? I like mine cold, an hour stay in the freezer is good as it gets. I like all my pie cold.

I love them! Question: what is difference between this and a chess pie?

Chess pie is made with evaporated milk and vinegar. This is buttermilk. It has a creamier, richer flavor in my opinion.

By Far the best pie in the land. Toad33 on here his mom has won the blue ribbon at the Sate Fair of Texas for her buttermilk pie. I love hers and most others. When I try to make them they just never seem to turn out correctly. It may be my oven.
