I'm looking for a kayak for my 8 year old son. Prefer a sit on top but will entertain all options. He is tall and has a long wingspan for his age. While I don't want a POS it does not have to be in new condition. You can text me pics at 469.235.2045.
Thanks, Bryan

Wally world here in Hillsnowhere has a 10' yak that's $259 right now. Very green but it's a sit in style. Wide enough so he should be fairly stable in it.
I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)

Check out the ocean kayak scrambler or spec. They are both the same yak. They are reasonably fast, kind of narrow and a "real" adult size kayak. My son uses one from time to time and can easily paddle it. Its light too. The advantage is you can also use it or sell it better than a kids yak. I think they run about 250-300.

Second the Scrambler or the Ocean Kayak Frenzy 8 footer, which is bulletproof and stable.

Scrambler Frenzy Mini-X Pescador 12 Redfish 12 Wilderness 100 Tarpon 12 Ultra Native Tegris Ride 11.5
My 8yr old has the Mini-X. We found his at Mariner Sails in Dallas. Both the Mini-X & Frenzy are bullet proof yaks for small anglers.

My daughter has the Future Beach 120 Spirit kayak in Green. It is a super stable 10' kayak. I upgraded the seat. She is looking to sell it so she can upgrade. I will text you photos. If you want the specs, feel free to go to the Dicks webpage.
$250

I know that my ride 115 would be really tough for an 8 year old. Personally, i would look at the tarpon 100. My wife has one and loves it. Ive used it as a buddy kayak for 250 lb guys as well.

Do a search for kid kayak on evilbay. I was looking at some today and found several 8' ones that were less than $170 with free shipping. Just an inexpensive SOT but they're new and the free shipping is a nice price break.

Don't get me wrong, I've had several specs and all of my kids have used them, but they don't track well and require some paddling skill to maintain a course, but this is true of a great many smaller kayaks. Just FYI.
