Spice Rack in old town Burleson has the best burger I have had in a long time!
Called Build A Burger and you choose your cheese, balsamic onions, grilled jalapenos, patty is half pound Angus cooked to order and is juicy every time.
Best kept secret in Burleson for their food. banana

I still stand by Burgerand Fries in Sulphur Springs. A cheese burger, fries (home cut), drink for $7 with tax. I am just happy they don't have a place in McKinney because it would not be good for my long-term health to be so convenient.

Burger Island near downtown Carrollton. Huge burgers that taste awesome. The place is a dive but food is great.

Burger Island is good but in that neighborhood I actually prefer Sid's Rainbow Grill in Downtown Carrollton. Specifically the Chili Cheese Burger add Jalapenos.

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

I agree with Herd's in Jacksboro. Just cheese burgers, chips, and beverages in there. With a burger that good you, don't need anything else.

Woody's? Long ago I would agree with ya. New Ownership now? Took my friend there 3 years ago and been been bragging on it the whole time and I couldn't believe the burger they brought out. Tasted like a school cafeteria burger! I was so embarrassed that I bought his meal for him. Couldn't allow him to pay after that experience. barf

Those are two of my favorites in Fort Worth. When my daughter was going to TCU we frequented those places quite often.

Thought I would revive the burger thread by throwing in ou new favorite, Jucy's Hambugers in Tyler ( 2 locations) has the best old fashioned burger we have found in years. Plenty of burger sizes and different cheeses to choose from Their fried sides like hand cut French fries and hand battered onion rings are just like your Mamma made growing up. None of that frozen, mushy stuff a lot of people throw in the grease. If you are on the eastern side of state look them up. I believe they also have a Longview and Marshall place in addition to the 2 in tyler. FaceBook or google them to get full menu, directions and their story

That sounds great! Throw in some tabasco in the ketchup and on the burger and we are cooking with gas!

Dunstons on Harry Hines in Dallas make a burger worth going back for.

I survived on the chicken fried stakes at Height Millers in Waco when I was in college. I just tried their Texas burger on my to see the in-laws this weekend and it was one of the best burgers I have had in a while.

SteerBurger, on Tx Hwy 35 S between Rockport and Aransas Pass was just written up in Texas Monthly mag as one of the top 50 burger joints in Texas. I agree, and they're about two minutes from my home! Just a trailer, with a griddle and a deep fryer. No dining room, just picnic tables. Long line every day at lunchtime. Not just burgers, but other sandwiches and different daily specials. Cheaper than McDonald's and twenty times as good.
Please don't tell anyone else.

Gholson Country Store. Gholson, Texas. Best $%#@! burgers and fries I've ever had, anywhere. Their fried shrimp (only availableon Fridays) is also really good. If you want a beer, you can walk over to the country store side, no wall or anything, and buy one from their cooler and bring it to your table. If you order a beer they'll get one for you but it costs 25 cents more. Shipping and handling, I guess. They do have tea and fountain drinks in the burger joint side.

Fuddrucker's (sp?) is my favorite for a non-fast food chain restaurant. Favorite fast food burger is Smash Burger, next in line is Whataburger, then Freddy's. Sorry, just call 'em as I see 'em.

edited to add: Oh, man! I can't believe I forgot Healthcamp and Cupp's! Both in Waco. Healthcamp is anything but healthy, with great burgers and shakes, and Cupp's has been there since '53 for a reason.

That's GOOD TO KNOW about Gholson, I drive through there a couple of times per month but have not stopped at the store. I'll have to give that a try! Thanks!

The one in Amarillo is also very good, although I prefer Coyote Bluff if I'm in Amarillo.

Went to Mixed Up Burgers in Grand Prairie (just on the GP side of HWY 360)...AWESOME! Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Tuesday is also half-priced burger day.

For a good old fashioned burger, JC's in Allen. Blue Bell shakes and fried jalapenos also.

For a fancy burger, Square Burger in McKinney. Excellent fries and onion rings and good selection of beer.

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

Went to Bakers last night

note if you go at night bring a gun. I did not have mine and wished I did when a crack head crossed the street and came directly to my vehicle and asked for money. She was shaking badly from drugs or lack of, and eyeballing at my wife and daughter. I usually say no but gave her a couple quarters to get rid of her. Looking back I would have handled it differently. Great burger, but at night the neighborhood is shady.

Fuego Burger is moving to a new spot at 4400 Benbrook Hwy in December. (formerly Pop's Burgers) Glad they're leaving the old place attached to the convenience store, that place was a dump.

Fuego Burger is moving to a new spot at 4400 Benbrook Hwy in December. (formerly Pop's Burgers) Glad they're leaving the old place attached to the convenience store, that place was a dump.

Pops was legit. Just not a great business man.

Greenwood Grocery in Greenwood TX has fantastic burgers. They also have good catfish and live music on Saturday nights. Try the pie, if you have room for it after you eat.

I didn't know they were still open, I haven't been there in years. They used to have a good coconut pie as well. I will say they have a great burger.

Stingray's in Port Aransas
I usually get my primo burger fix at SteerBurger, just South of Rockport on Tx 35, voted by Texas Monthly Mag as one of the top 50 burger joints in Texas(trailer, no dining room, just great burgers).
Last Saturday, being Cinco de Mayo, plus, the Kentucky Derby, we decided to brave the Port Aransas ferry logjam, and get a Super Margarita at Stingray's in PA. Having the munchies, we decided to eat there, under the two Stingrays(real Corvettes, over the bar). Two of us got their Stingray Burgers. Outstanding! I normally avoid "touristy" places, and PA on weekends, but we'll be going back there. Afterwards, down to Bernie's Beach Bar to watch the Mud Derby. Escaped before the ferry line got stupid long. Had a great hamburger at Nancy's Cafe in Paris last week for lunch. An old cafe serving breakfast and lunch. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great and obviously a long-standing bunch of customers. Three blocks north of the square on N. Main St.

Good a place as any for my 1st post. I spend 2 years after college up near Wichita Falls. Their were more local burger joints up there than any place i've been. Gene's Tasty Burger, Ronnie's, Stanley's, Pat's, Glass Kitchen... Not sure if they are all still there, but all were good. My personal fav was Ronnie's.

Hole in the wall (can't remember the town, but west of DFW)

The all-time best was Lita's in cowtown. Fried in a cast iron skillet and you could write your name in the grease on the walls. She had been there for years. Unfortunately, she past.

Langford Grocery in Houston is very good. Hubcap Grill in downtown Houston is also very good. I worked downtown for many years so we just walked. It's not worth driving in downtown Houston for any food, even if it was free.

If you are ever on 154 on the way from Quitman to Gilmer give Swanners a try. Just as you get into Gilmer. Also East Texas Burger Company in Mineola is pretty good too!

I went to the Langford grill for the first time a couple of days ago. It's a decent thick patty burger but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a bit juicier or the meat more flavored. Just had the standard cheeseburger. Good enough to go back once in a while but their are better burgers in Houston.

Leta's Place was one of a kind, for sure. I had many burgers in that old dive back in the day. She made some great old school burgers, but lord don't ask for fries!

Some of her old friends and customers set up a memorial plaque for her where the old diner used to be.

For just a no frills great cheeseburger Keller's is tough to beat, especially for the price. I are there for the first time a little over a month ago. I was impressed.

Burger and Fries in Sulphur Springs should be outlawed. If they had a place here in McKinney, I'd weight 400 lbs. Best I've ever had. $7.25 with tax for 1/2 lb. cheeseburger, lots of home cooked fries and drink. It's the best!

Ate their last Friday. It sucked. Worst burger I've had in a long time. Someone needs to take the sign down. Definitely NOT the best burger in Texas...not even close. McDonalds has them beat.

If you are ever in Graham at lunch and want to find out what a good burger is, go the The Thriftway. Its across from Alsups at the intersection of 67, 380 and 16. Better than Herds or Hole in the Wall. Cheese burger basket is 5 bucks.

I haven't tried their burger, but the other stuff I've eaten there has been really good.

Im here in ABQ. Been coming out here for almost 20 years and Ive heard continual accolades about Blakes Lot-a-Burger. I had one for the first time last night and I can truly say, meh. How did it get such good review? NM gotta long ways to go to catch up with TX burger joints.

Right at the east end of the 2946 bridge. Big Bill is not there anymore so don't know how the burgers are these days.

I thought the Hardware store on 154 made the best.

I don't think you can beat a 80/20 burger with a little lawrey seasoning salt cooked over real lump charcoal (not Kingsford) at home myself.

Nothing beats a good ole hamburger cooked at home in an iron skillet and butter ! Just don’t over cook it , make them 3/4” thick and big enough to cover your bun that’s been toasted with all the trimmings and mustard on one side and mayo on the other and plenty of it !! Serve with some deep fried tator tots ! Can’t beat it !

Yep that is a tasty way of doing them as well. I do personally think the key is starting off with 80/20 beef.

We went to Rodeo Goat last night....first time for me. Will not be the last time. Both our burgers were excellent. They were cooked exactly as ordered and the fries were some of the best we have had. Good spot for a great burger.

Little Red Wagon in Round Rock had some of the best burgers and onion rings around. Their Mexican food, fried catfish and shrimp was very good also, all was at a very reasonable price. Sadly closed their doors Jan. 12.

It sure used to be about as good as you could get. Last two times, not at all, haven’t been back since.

I'm not in Texas, but if you are in Florida.....LeTub is pretty dang good and simple.

There are a lot of places I like with crazy combinations, but sometimes it's the simplicity of it all.

You know it's been on the grill...that taste. It's on the water in So Florida. so you get nice views.

For those that have enjoyed a SteerBurger in Rockport, the owner, Mark, is fighting Stage 4 cancer of the neck. There was a fundraiser/benefit for him at Drifter's Resort last weekend. I think his wife is a manager there. There was a HUGE turnout, and I'm sure lotsa bucks were raised. Don't know the future of the business, but if it closes, Mark & SteerBurger will be sorely missed. Best of Luck, Mark! IslandJim

Just grilled burgers today using Venison breakfast sausage. Awesome, and a lot better for you than beef.

In the state of Texas - Alamo Springs Café. Hard to find, out in the middle of nowhere a few miles south of Fredericksburg.

Around the Metromess -- Dutch's in FW across from TCU has been at the top of my list for years.
