I am new to the forum and enjoy reading all the post. I have obtained a bunch of great information and learned alot.
Now I need some help. I have a Hummingbird Helix 5 with GPS and DI. Which is the better charts to purchase, the Navionics or the Lakemaster? I mainly fish the lakes of North Texas but will someday venture to the Gulf Coast.

You need to look at the areas that you want to fish and see which has the best maps for those areas. I like lakemaster because I can adjust the water level and highlight the depths that I am looking for but I don't get as much details such as ponds, brushpiles, etc. on the lakes that I fish. For me the best option is one of each. You could also buy navionics and then just download individual maps in lakemaster for lakes that you want it on.

Apples and oranges. Actually is more like Granny Smith apples vs Washington apples. Neither is night vs day and just has some small features that make them different. Different brands have different details shown on different lakes. Both have very good topographical detail on most lakes I've been to.

Thanks for the information. I am leaning towards the Lakemaster card and see that Cabela's sells it for $130. So.... I think I will pick it up and try it out at Texoma this weekend.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Make sure it is the 2015 issue since this is the first year using microSD cards which is what the Helix series uses.
It will have MSD on the lable.
