Dropped @ dam @ ray bob. Current picked up quick on the way down! Tried to run a line....man. lost everything. I wanted to vomit! Any one got any stories so I don't feel so bad, lol. Trying to stay positve, my girlfriend got a nice cat when I was swimming.

Sorry to hear that! It's a sinking feeling isn't it? I so far have been lucky and only kicked one rod and reel over the edge.

Tie down everything or make it float next time.

Had a dump happen in a small john boat once. Duck season. Shotguns, shotshell boxes on the bottom. Fortunately it was shallow and everything was recovered.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm a quick learner!

I feel your pain man. That happened to me a month ago, lost both rods and bunch of fishing lures. The very next day I ordered rod floaters and water proof plano tackle boxes. I would get some rod floaters and get something rigged up where everything is tied down somehow or has a flotation device on it.

Check out this video on how to make homemade paddle and rod leashes.

The question is, had you considered using leashes/floats and discarded the idea? Live and learn.

Yea I've used them. Haven't flipped in years and was feeling too confident. Had a trot line tied to it and the current rocked it back and forth. Couldn't get to my knife fast enough. About $600.oo down there. Agh!! Tying off for sure or taking gear I don't care about

Ouch!! $600 is pretty big chunk of change. I guess I just deal with that by using old, junky, worn out rods, etc. That way when I lose one I will be excited about getting a new one.

Thanx everyone. I've came up w/the conclusion that I should never be complacent while yakking. No matter what.
