Some of you may be following the development of a line, poly ethylene based, out of Germany that claims to be much smaller than Braid but just as strong. It goes by the name Gliss. It has been introduced in the USA by Ardent and it has a bass pro repping it here:

Gliss

Interesting and cheaper than most braids so suspect we'll see some reports fairly quickly.

The "red flag" that goes up for me is the fact that it is being distributed by Ardent, a company I am not familiar with, and a bass pro that I don't know. I suppose I would have contacted someone like Bass Pro Shops always looking for a proprietary product to get people into its stores.

If you hear anything, post back!

Brad

Both Ardent and Fred been around a long long time but that doesn't mean much these days. Would be interested in seeing the translucent stuff.

I use #40 Diawa Samurai and it has a diameter equal to 8# mono.

Most brands of superline rated at 50# strength have a diameter equal to 10# mono.

No big deal with Gliss. Just marketing.

I read one report over on Bass Fishing Forum where a man bought it, then reviewed it.

I can't recall all of the issues it had but, alas, another not-so-good line.

I spooled up one of my steez reels with it, and it does cast great.... but it frays easy and it frayed about a 6 inch section midways on a cast where I got a bad backlash. I took it off and will never buy it again, back to powerpro and Mustad braid....
