No way that fish is 4.41. I've caught two three pounders and both were bigger than that! I'd say 2 3/4 lbs. at most. What kind of scales did you use? They WERE certified scales, right? How many eyewitnesses do you have? That photo looks like it was taken inside a Lake Erie marina where fishing is illegal. There are no smallies in Texas with that coloration. Gotta be from Lake St. Clair, MI.

That had to be one hell of a topwater bite.

I've caught many 3's at Greers Ferry in Arkansas and I knew it was at least a 5. sorry for the "Monster" headline....I was a little stoked at the time. I found a scale in my boat and after a thousand weights taken it repeated at 4.1- 4.2. After talking with a good friend that has caught many smb he convinced me to take it in for weight. The weight reading is from BPS scale. I have 5 witnesses. I'm just glad to decide to throw a buzz bait vs. a yellow magic this morning. Absolutely smoked a buzz bait. Once she realized she was hooked the fight was on. Yes markings and colors were very pronounced. Glad I had 50lb braid!

BTW PBS wanted the fish but couldn't guarantee it would stay in Texas....Didn't want that to happen so she went back to Grapevine. Caught in the back of Silvercreek marina. Yes the ramp is open but it was a pain in the ars to get out this afternoon. Boats and trailers were staked up like cord wood if you know what I mean.
