For what's it's worth, REI is having its annual kayak sale 15% off regular price. I picked up a 12ft Wilderness Pungo Today is the last day.
Luckily it's rained and stormed all day. Hopefully I can get her in the lake soon.
Also Gander is having a sale. Picked up a pair of Nikon Prostaff 5 for $126. They are doing an addition 10% off any sale items if you are active, veteran or police/emergency.

REI is so expensive to begin with, they are normal price when on sale there. I had never been into an REI until Saturday - I almost puked. On top of that - every person in the store wanted us to buy a membership. I just came flat out and said "I think I prefer Academy."

Well I did say for what it's worth. My kayak was listed at $875. Just like everywhere else. I got it for $805. Tax included. The membership give an additional 20% off and every March you get back 10% of all the stuff you buy. It's definitely not Walmart or Academy.

Congrats on the Pungo purchase, Sit Ins don't get a lot of love here so let me be the first to congratulate you. I've had my 140 for the last two years and certainly love it. I'm sure you will enjoy yours as well.

I'm sure you will enjoy yours as well. Thanks, I can't wait to get out on the lake. My first yak was a Dagger Zydeco. I fished from it no problems at all. I just found that after a while I needed an upgrade from a 9.5' to a 12', plus a dry hatch.

I think that you will really enjoy the seat and the larger cockpit plus the console is a really nice feature. I also think that you will enjoy both the speed and stability of your Pungo.
Because I am more of a paddler than a fisher I needed something that I could both fish out of and keep up with the people in touring kayaks, that I usually paddle with. My pungo does both. Plus it is increadibly stable, so much so that I have been able to sit "side saddle" and dangle my feet off the edge. That is nothing that I do routinely but since I saw someone do it on Youtube I just wanted to see if I could do it. I've also seen someone paddle their Pungo while standing, but have not yet attempted to do so, but I will.
Again congrats on your purchase, I'm sure that you will certainly enjoy it.

REI is so expensive to begin with, they are normal price when on sale there. If you only buy certain times of the year, it's worth it. Garage sales can produce real good gear for cheap. Also, if it's something you are unsure about, REI has the best return policy. I buy all of my tents there because of they tear or a pole snapps, you can take it back no questions asked.
