Fishing with my brother in law on Saturday on Conroe and hooked a probable personal best along a grassbed. Got her on a 1/2 oz chartreuse spinner bait.

We both saw her and agreed she was at least 6-8 pounds. Finally got her under control up front of the boat but when I leaned down to lip her I saw she wrapped once around the trolling motor. I just about her unwrapped when bro in law accidentally stepped on the motor throttle and the blades cut the line and almost got my hand, too. Watched helplessly as my PB got away...with the spinner bait still in her jaw.

My bro in law felt horrible about it the rest of the day and frankly, so did I but as I told him- it was an accident, unintentional but at least he saw the fish, too, and confirmed it's size.

So I will continue my quest but the memory of the hog that got away.

It will make you fill better if you will just slap the chit right out of him. And I don't fish BASS elites. I use a dip net.

Story of my life, I've busted off a bunch of big fish since I came to texas and began flipping and pitching in heavy cover. Caught a bunch too.

It happens, we love bass fishing because hard and the big ones we do get in boat mean more.
