What did you think you had hooked into? It must have had you in suspense. They are known for being really good fighters.

It took a live minnow on a cork. Cork shot under, set the hook, immediately knew it wasn't a bass or cat. I have caught some before and had my suspicions it was a bowfin, but I had no idea it was that big. 6ft Medium action spinning rod, with a Diawa underspin with 10lb test. It had that rod doubled up and pulling drag. it was a site to see in such a small area of the creek.

Spent almost every vacation over the last 40 years in Michigan both the lower and the U.P...

Grew up north of the Bay City area. Our house was about 2 miles from the Saginaw Bay. I used to hop on my bike with a fishing rod to go catch yellow perch, rock bass, bullheads, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and the occasional northern pike. We also made trips up north to fish the Rifle River and AuSable River. Great times!

Lots of Michigan people. My wife is from Bay City MI. She grew up on Michigan Ave. Me? In full blooded Texican. I love me some Michigan summers though.

I’m headed to NB Friday.

Tight lines!

Shut up and fish!

It was another fantastic pre-front fishing day on the Yegua. banana banana I fished from 4 PM to 6:45 PM and caught 53. I fished every hole that I couldn't see the bottom and caught fish in almost every spot. The big females finally showed up in their normal holding spot as well. It was an incredibly fun day.

There was a family fishing the spot i was so successful at on Sunday. They had a full stringer. I heard reports of some other full stringers earlier in the day. Most everyone else there were inexperienced white bass fisherman and didn't have more than a couple on their stringers.

The magical clouser was the star today. I had 6 people ask me to look at the fly. 2 people took pictures of it. And one Asian lady that didn't speak english even made me take a selfie with her roflmao roflmao roflmao

Fantastic report, J-Moe. Glad you found them biting. I had a fantastic day at work, looking at Excel spreadsheets. Hope to get out this weekend.

Any opinions on what this cold front will do to them? Was out there last the morning of 2/17 and managed one keeper that was caught on a jig. nothing on minnows from about 7:45 to 11:30 am. I think it was 2 or 3 days after cold weather and another front was coming in bringing rain the next day. Reading posts, sounded like people did well the following day. I did see some things in the creek that gave me clues as to why the Clouser is king most days. Gonna have to do some more research though. I know there is a great amount of skill involved. I'm Jesse, by the way. you'll see me, a buddy and cousin down there together. Usually have on blue. Say hello if you see us. Always willing to trade info. Good luck everyone!

Hey, Jobenfish. Days right after a strong front are generally not productive for me when it comes to creek fishing. I call them "bluebird" days. The skies are blue, weather seems perfect, but the fish are just not feeding. Sometimes you have to fish when you can though, especially if you're a weekend warrior like me. Welcome to the thread.

I'll be out again Saturday by boat. If you want to get up the creek and don't want to walk, hollar.

To get up to J-Moe's skill level one must fish for hours upon hours at all times of the year and be able to adapt and learn far above the average human.. or just be Meaux cajun by birth.. wink
