So for the first time in over a year due to family health problems I was able to go fishing last week. I paddled up Nails creek last Sunday and again yesterday. Caught 5 Crappie each trip and about a dozen small bass the 1st trip. Flipped out of my kayak for the 1st time yesterday due to a red and yellowish water snake getting in the boat with me. Water was cold, but it was 80° and eventually dried me out. Winds are supposed to be light on Thursday so I'm really thinking about trying to get to the Yegua creek. Any tips on where to fish that creek?

Once you get in the creek you can start searching. One good spot to check is about a mile or less upstream. It is a large open area that has another creek feeding into it. The fish will often stage in this area before moving up the creek to spawn.
Ben and I fished the dam on Friday morning. We only caught a couple small keeper white bass.
I went checked on Irwin bridge Saturday morning but got the same results as last time I went. Only small bluegill. I headed over to the dam and caught 7 keeper white bass and a hybrid.
Saturday afternoon will be one I will not forget. Once again, the moment was provided by the magical clouser. I was fishing down at the end of the rocks when I hooked a big hybrid. As normal, it resulted in an epic battle on the 4 weight. The fish made several runs on me and came to the surface twice. One time it was in the shallows moving enough water that it looked like I was fighting a 25 lber. I finally got it in and when I did the crowd at the dam started clapping for me. Now that was cool I ended the afternoon catching 5 big hybrids and 1 white bass.
I fished the dam again both Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. I caught 2 more hybrids in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. But only one white bass all day. I don't know what happened to the white bass.
Thanks Hook-line&sinker. I think I have some that will work but want to tweak then just a bit more. J-Moe those are so awesome hybrids I might have to check that area out.

Thanks for the good report. I've only flipped my kayak once and that was due to the wake from an air boat in Nails Creek. I'm pretty sure a snake in the boat would cause me to flip as well.
Think these would work? Not sure of the size of the shrimp these are on #6 Mustad 34007 in olive and clear. I'd like to get some tan midge flash and use some of the sand colored spanaflex I have for antennae and replace the clear dun hackle with some light barred ginger to approximate what I saw in the photo.
I had 3/8 inch of rain in my rain gage. The ground is so dry I am sure it soaked it right up. A couple of times the rain came down hard but it never did last long, mostly slow drizzle. We need a good rain to bring up the Yegua, the fish have plenty of eggs in their bellies, time to run up a flooded creek. LOL
Fresh water shrimp are very clear, almost transparent. If I remember right a full grown one can get up to eight inches long. The biggest one I have ever seen was maybe 3/4 inches long. Not very big, but I caught it in a net close to shore in the grass.
