I doubt this would ever happen to one of my Pro Anglers...

Never place your hand past the cork/foam grip when bringing in a fish. Any rod would break by the way he was holding it. Failure is inevitable

Great advice and spot on. That being said, I have not heard yet of a Pro Angler being broken, ever.

That was a garbage rod.... It broke in 4 places... His holding it that way had very little to do with it. It got overloaded and was probably a bad layup with fibers going the wrong direction. Carbon fiber doesn't fail like that when laid up properly.

I have two PA rods that were run over by a couple vehicles when they flew out of my boat a year ago. Still working great!

He probably had the drag set too tight.

I broke a rod as a kid on lavon , big bait and good equipment. I guarantee it was my error drag etc. but it's those kind of memories of the huge fish that got away that keeps me fishing. If it was too easy it wouldn't be the same reward in the end.
