Does anyone know where I can get a paddle board for under 500 bucks that I can rig out for fishing? I can't find anything on Craigslist near my area.

Pelican makes paddleboard in your price range. APT carries Kaku SUP, but I'm not sure how much they are. Also, Mariner sails carries them too, but I'm not sure they have anything new in your price range.

Check Craigslist for a used one in DFW and Austin.

A bit out of your price range but for a few hundred more go check out the Kaku Kahuna at Anglers pro Tackle. Super nice for $799. thumb

I would go with the Academy paddle board and see if you like it. Then you could always sell it and look at getting a nicer one.

That Academy board actually looks pretty good for the price.

Be sure to check out the video: http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/no-limits-153-aries-12-39-stand-up-paddle-board/pid-808706

Anyone have any experience with one of these?

Be careful when shopping by low price only. SUPs are kinda like an M&M's. You had better know what is inside that shell.

The many "bargain price" products will generally not have sturdy construction and many short cuts will be utilized to make it cosmetically look like more than it is.

Save a few more bucks for something that will last and be everything that you want for your investment.

Mariner Sails will be having a big demo day on April 25th at Lake Lewisville. We will have SUPs from Native Watercraft, Hobie, Bote and others for you to demo. Test them out and then go look at the big box boards. You will truly see why you need to save a few more bucks for a better experience.

X2. The guys at mariner are amazing! Not trying to sell you on them, they do that with their service and expertise. I see so many people buy cheep and hate the sport because they had a bad experience. ..the right tools help and education as well. Both are at mariners along with quality sups.

I follow the classifieds pretty often and I rarely see anyone trying to sell a paddle board. Just out of curiousity I searched my local craigs list and came up with "O" so it appears folks are happy to hold onto the one's they've got, even the cheap ones.
Seems if a guy bought one from Academy he'd not have a hard time selling and probably get close to what he paid for it since used ones seem to be so rare.
That said, I believe in buying quality!
My son bought one from Academy a couple years ago and he weighs around 250 and he loves it.
