lost my lower unit today. started off noticing it was difficult to go in and out of gear. went down the lake ,fished a spot and when I got ready to leave, motor died and sounded like weak battery when I tried to restart.acted like it was in a bind. anyhow trolled back and got on the trailer. could smell the lubricant burned smell. put it in gear and could turn the prop with resistance and hear noise in lower unit.any advice on the cvost and source of reman unit ?oh 98 model 150 faststike

Good used checked and re-sealed lower is the way to go. Any of the OMC, Johnson or Evinrude mid 80`s 150, 175, 200hp up will work with using your shift shaft.
