First let me say you have as much right to the lakes as anyone. Next in a lot of instances you are really hard to see. I came around a point in my slow moving pontoon and almost swamped one. Please put a "red bike flag" on your boat so you are easier to see. I was moving 14 mph, if I had been in a bass boat going 50 he would have been swimming instead of paddling. I am putting this on here because it seems that Kayaking is becoming a really big thing. Be safe and be seen.

You are absolutely right!

I'm a kayaker, and I know they are flat hard to see even on a bright sunny day and color makes little difference in some cases. If a cloud passes and the kayaker is in the shade from that cloud, they can literally disappear.

I also know that a lot of people get preoccupied with rods, baiting hooks, and talking to others in the boat that they don't pay attention to where they are going especially when trolling around kayakers.
A kayak can't just pull up anchor and move quickly to get out of the way. I've had to holler to get the attention of folks in a larger boat that were barreling down on me and I had a flag and I was near the shore.

I do believe in the fact that a flag is a must when around powered craft, and also everyone should be aware of their surroundings, and a kayaker should never cross a river, or cove on a curve, or blind area, where a power boat may come around and not see you until it's too late.
It's about common sense on both the kayaker and the power boater.
Stay Safe out there!

Being in a kayak on a lake worries me more than riding my sportbike in traffic being I just don't have the ability to get out of the way quickly

The other day on Texoma, I was heading towards one and barely saw him. That's my #1 worry moving across Texoma. Most of them time they are fairly easy to see, but depending on the water color, chop, etc., it can be very difficult.

When I kayaked I flew a green KCCO Flag that could be extended up to 4 feet in heavy boating areas.

But now I jet ski fish when I am not in the Angry White Shark.
