I am looking for my first kayak and am seriously considering the Ascend FS12T. I will most likely be fishing small lakes and shorelines. Since I have balance issues periodically, I was wondering how easy it is to stand and how stable this kayak is when standing. Also, I am 5'10" and 245 lbs (read: low center of gravity). Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm 6'2" 250 and can stand and cast from mine. I'm not a pro by any means but it can be done. I got my FS12T a little over a month ago, and it was my first kayak. Check out my YouTube videos, just search R.J. Hillman

Rhino,
I checked out your videos. Very cool. I have already decided if I get this boat the first thing I am going to do is install the anchor trolley. What kind of anchor do you have?
Also, how does your boat handle? Does it track well, easy to maneuver, etc.?

Anyone know if it's possible to set up a rudder on the FS12T?

Rhino,
I checked out your videos. Very cool. I have already decided if I get this boat the first thing I am going to do is install the anchor trolley. What kind of anchor do you have?
Also, how does your boat handle? Does it track well, easy to maneuver, etc.? I got a simple 1.5 lbs collapsible claw style anchor. But will soon be getting a larger one. I have the Deluxe Anchor Trolley system from Yak Gear and it works very well. The boat handles pretty darn good. I can get moving fairly quick with my nice paddle, so definitely buy a good one. It tracks well, I don't find myself fighting it too much during turns either.
