I see these kinds of posts sometimes so I figured I would get on here real quick and say a little something. I don't know Rick personally. Actually never met him. Rick doesn't know me either. I recognized him though just based on pics from here and I guess just fishing Lake Fork quite a bit.
Anyways, my son and I stayed at Fork all last week during Spring Break and the majority of those days were spent on the water prefishing for Mega Bass. One day in particular we were fishing a small little shallow point. We had been getting several small bites believe it or not and I was anchored down with my Talon trying to get my son bit. This point led into a pretty big cove that of course had half a dozen boats or so back there looking for big mama in the shallows, as were we!
Now as most boats came by they idled by, waved or what not and kept going. It was a pretty tight fit between me and where the treeline was but not to tight. Point being whoever came that way past us got within 15 foot or so of us to idle by us. I didn't care obviously. That's just part of it plus I was fishing the point and that was one of the easier ways back there because of all the stumps.
So one boat in particular is headed out and headed our direction. They got probably around 25 yards or so from us and cut the big engine off and Rick Carter jumped up on the trolling motor. I didn't know who it was at the time. I didn't recognize him til he got right next to us and of course we did the usual Hey how's it going yall catching anything kinda talk that normally happens when passing another fisherman. Anyways, I didn't realize when he put the trolling motor down that he was doing this out of respect for us! He had his trolling motor down and kept it down until he was good and past us before cranking the big motor back up and idling on out of the cove.
Now that's old school! And I thought it was really cool of him to do that. I don't come on here and complain about folks cutting me off or flying down boat lanes if I'm fishing next to one and etc etc but I thought it was really cool of him, as a guide nonetheless, to do this and it set a good example for his customers as well. I don't want this to be taken or misconstrued as if I have a problem with the others who idled by because I don't at all. I just thought this was a nice gesture and it was appreciated!
So thanks Rick! I sure hope it was Rick anyways! haha

Class Act he is!! A True Gentleman if I ever met one!! Years ago we got to know each other through Stren Series....ran into him on Fork as well and like you said, he trolls by. Now we all know his secret to staying skinny all these years!! Up and down, 365 days a year.

Rick is a fine feller, indeed. Your story doesn't surprise me, Louie.

You will not find a better guy and a great fisherman but even if the fish aren't biting you'll have fun fishing with Rick

Doesn't surprise me one bit.
Rick is as good as they come.
I had the pleasure of meeting him at a fund raiser for a young man that lost his battle with cancer years ago.

Rick is a swell guy. He has a heart big as a watermelon and is one of the most accommodating guides you will ever have the pleasure to fish with. And he is pretty consistent getting you on some fish.

Rick is a stand up guy & an awesome fisherman. He was my neighbor @ Barcrofts RV park when he first started guiding Fork. I would certainly recommend him as a top notch guide!
