Just returned from 2 days of fishing on Palestine. They are definitely starting to sit on beds. Did pretty much all of my fishing up in Kickapoo with a couple hours spent early Friday morning in Old Folks. Didn't get a single bite in Old Folks (although I did witness one gentleman wearing cats out in 3 foot of water there, some over 25 pounds). Spent the next 2 days on Kickapoo catching all our fish in 1 to 3 foot of water right off the creek. Biggest was 7.3 many 3 to 4 and a whole lot of keeper sized fish. Water was stained (kind of motor oil looking) and 67 degrees. Friday morning caught a couple on chatter baits and pumpkin chartreuse lizards. However, that afternoon and all of Saturday I started throwing a weightless green pumpkin chartreuse tail Yamasenko and man it was on. I was blessed to be able to take my cousins out and watch them catch their biggest LMBs ever. May have even converted them from white bass fishermen to black bass fishermen smile We went through 3 packs of senkos in 2 days. It did rain on us each trip out and and was overcast at all times. This may have contributed to the fishes' preferred color of green chartreuse. I tried ripping white spinners and red rattle traps through the grass and surprisingly never got a hit.

Another thing I'd like to add...I've heard that bass will move into others beds if given the chance. I've never been able to test this theory but, the morning I caught the 7.3 we took some pics and released her pretty far from her bed (the wind blew my boat a good ways while we were taking pics). That evening I threw a senko right back in her bed and pulled a 5 pounder out.

Hope all this info helps someone go out and have as much fun as we did. God Bless.

Oh, and I'm not that short my cousin is just 6'7" smile

It changed a lot today. Couldn't find any water over 63.7. The overcast and rain may have had an effect on the temps. Good Job in Kickapoo.
