Lets go fishing!!!!
We have gotten enough rain just at the right time to save the fishing season this year. What a break for those of us that love to enjoy this lake, it's absolutely wonderful and I am looking forward to a great year of fishing and catching.
Catching fish for me at this moment isnt starting off with boat loads of fish. I'm pretty sure the bank fishermen are winning the battle right now. The sand bass are getting a chance to spawn this year so they are all headed up the creek to do what nature tells them to do this time of the year make babies. Crappie are moving shallow spawning as well. Catfish when I can find them are in the shallow warm flats.
Afternoon might be the best bet for sand bass and hybrid striper when the water is the warmest.
Water temperature is the key; I like warm nights to accelerate the heating up process. We need at least 60 degree water temperature to make the sand bass come alive in the main lake.
I'm seeing a lot of bird activity in the afternoon with terns and gulls working along the shore line feeding on little button shad. The sand bass and hybrids will find them soon and then the fish catching will begin.
Early spring I like throwing artificial baits like rattle traps and crank baits. It's just a blast.
This fishing can turn on a dime so in just a few days we may be in for some of the best fishing of the year!
It's been a long winter so let's get on this lake that is trying it's best to fill up.
Availability is going quicker than usual so call and book your trip today.
