With conditions being right for a spinnerbait bite I thought I would ask what is your spinner bait of choice for this weekend?

I have always liked the Terminator series especially the tungsten when I can find them. I just don't typically fish with a lot of other people so I am kinda out of the loop on what others are using.

I have always built my spinner baits but not from scratch. My favorite is the Mann's Classic then I do quite a number of things to it so it it will catch bigger bass.
- Copper willow in 4.5
- Strip the head and paint silver diamond dust
- Better Shamano swivel.
- Build living rubber skirts for them. My best is blue/chart./white.
- Arm it with a Stanley Pro Trailer in Clear/glitter. No longer made.

I keep one in the box called my Halloween Spinner bait for inclement weather or Stormy weather spinner bait. It is a single spin orange bladed bait with a halloween skirt brown/orange/orange with black stripes also in living rubber. It is armed with the Stanley Pro Trailer in Tomato/blue flake. Bass heat orange in bad weather.

Then I get to the slow rolling baits for deep ledges. I build them for cloudy weather/clear water, sunshine/clear warter, cloudy/stained water and sunny/stained water. All have a configuration of willow leaf blades that are Diamond Dusted coated with the small blades being either white or chartreuse depending on the conditions.

I will be glad to share pictures if interested.

Me too. I'll sometimes throw the small Strike Kings in clear water when I'm burning one. But 95% of the time it's a War Eagle.

Mr. Harper, I would love to see some pics of your custom spinnerbaits! However, it would probably help me more if you could just send me a few so I could inspect them properly! nuts

My go-to spinnerbait is a War Eagle 3/8oz wht/chart. For stained water, large gold willow and small nickel colorado. For clear water, large nickel willow and a small gold (or nickel) colorado.

I tried some santone get fives and pretenders. They seem to be really good quality baits.

Depends a lot on the water color/light level, but a 3/8 ounce shad color head and shad pattern skirt with a chartreuse twin tail trailer and a tandem (no. 4 1/2 or no. 5) willow blade configuration (1 Gold and 1 Silver) is hard to beat this time of year. Fish it slow...just fast enough to keep the blades turning...and kill it, quickly, every few yards.

Add me to the War Eagle following. My friend swears by a Santone though

I like 3/8 war eagle too. Usually double willow leaf blades, regardless of water color. White or white/chartreuse are both good colors in the spring.

I like the Santone get 5 and BumperStumper. I like buying from Texas bait companies if possible.
