I'm fishing a new lake in East Tennessee....the water is stained....about 2' visibility....temps range from 47-55...being a lake on the Tennessee River system....there is current...especially now with all the snow melt off and rain.... a lot of current on main lake points....there are plenty of coves...the Eastern shore coves/necks are about 55 degrees....slow tapering banks....West shore coves/necks...47-49 degrees...same structure as the Eastern....the lake is still in its winter draw down (about 4' low)...but, coming up quickly. Most of the fallen trees are out of the water...pretty much featureless bottoms...How would you approach these conditions????? thanks....

Wilson or Wheeler? I would start out in one of the major creeks looking for water close to the spawning areas.

Maybe if you give the lake name, somebody has fished there.

I have never fished there but I have fished northern Alabama at lake Smith. Not much current, but similar features. I began like most would with a jerk bait and worked it pretty fast across the points to cover both sides. Caught some keepers but as the day went on I switched to a med (10-12ft) diving sexy pink Norman and hammered the spots and a few Largemouth. I think with your stained water it will be harder for the jerk bait so if you can locate any cover on the lee side of the points might work a bladed jig with shad trailer with the current and then follow up with a shaky head or jig around the outside of it.
