I have a leaking seal on one of the 2 trim cylinders on my 2010 Merc Pro XS. Has anyone ever had this done and if so what did it cost. Does anyone know of a link where I can get an exploded view of the cylinder and do it myself. There aren't but 2 screws holding the rod in the cylinder so it doesn't look like it would be too difficult. But I have been burned on the "Simple" things before.

I do my own outboard repairs. I'd recommend getting an OEM Mercury service manual for your particular motor (not seloc or clymers). The PDF's are generally available online for under $10 (selffixer.com may have it). It will give you step by step instructions. marinepartsplus.com is my preferred supplier of Mercury parts. They have the exploded diagrams.
Hope this helps.

I just had the same thing on mine (225 Pro XS) fixed at Bass Pro service center here in Ft. Worth. Are you sitting down? $286.19 to fix. $102.09 for cap kit and $149.70 in labor and $12.59 for shop supplies.

Thanks to all of you. I ordered the kit thru Marine Parts plus and they had a very good exploded view of the assembly. Stephen I will certainly give you a call if I run into any issues. Again thanks for all of your help.
