Hey guys, forum green horn here... Long time outdoorsman... needing some local advise for the weekend.
Two buddies and me were planning on a camping/bank fishing trip down to east Texas this weekend however looks like its raining all weekend, ergo, we are looking to stay within 4 hours of DFW to camp (something away from the crowd - on a lake with a decent chance of fishing for LMB. (Ill be bringing an 3 seat John boat w Trolling motor)
Been thinking PK state park but what else would you guys recommend for this situation location-wise... North and west looks dry this weekend so..
Thanks in advance.

Anywhere you go now will more than likely not be away from people. The weather turning brings out the masses. I'm planning a trip to Meridian SP soon, check it out

It's Spring Break week down here in Central Texas. Stillhouse Hollow has some campsites open for next weekend. I just checked at recreation.gov
Water is down a bit from normal. Our club fished it on a cold March 1 (Sunday). We didn't do well but many in our club did.
Have fun and be safe with whatever you do!

Spider how is the bass fishing? The PK Idea was a recommendation from a scout master but again I am trying find my best bet for both tranquility and fishing both. Some other ideas have been bridgeport runaway bay, Whitney, Fork (not sure where to camp),
I was also told there are some smaller lakes around Fork that have good numbers of bass maybe just not as big in size.

If you go to Fork, you can camp at Lake Fork Marina and Motel. Not secluded at all but hey, everyone at lake fork is nice and a pleasure to talk to! I've stayed there 3 times and absolutely love it.
If you're interested in an east Texas lake, shoot Bass98 a message on here. Great guy who will help you out all he can. Good luck and have a good time wherever you go!

You might try PK and camp at South D&D. Stripers are running now.

Roberts will not be a mad house like fork and there are some big fish. If you are really looking to get away from crowds check out Fairfield nice camping facilities there awesome for small boat. Fishing used to be phenomenal there but kills knocked it back. Have heard they are catching some fat bass there you just may not get any monsters since its on the rebound. Other cool place worth a look would be broken bow.
