I agree it is frustrating. I was taught by my grandfather that you never fish within casting distance of another boat. Unless that boat comes in on you, then you cast and tangle their lines every cast. But with the guy's children there that would be impossible to do and keep your own self respect. But in November 2012 I was trolling between two markers I had set out marking a brush pile and a guy pulled up and dropped his anchor right on top of one of my markers. Now these markers have not been painted black so I know he could see them plus he watched me trolling back and forth several times before he pulled over and took the spot while I was turning the boat to troll back again. I pulled up and asked if me would mind me picking up my marker since he just took my fishing spot. He replied it was his spot, he was planning to fish it next when I started fishing it. Then he told me he would pull my marker up and toss it to me as he did not want my pontoon scratching the gel coat of his boat. And he was old enough to know better. That's when you trim it up and wash the stupidity off of them. That's what I would have done in my younger days, especially with the inboards I owned that could kick up quite a rooster tail of water if you suddenly went on plane. But I'm fishing a pontoon with 40 horses now plus I had my wife with me. So I just wished him a nice day and went to the timber he just left and caught a few. I doubt he caught many, if anything, as I pitch my markers 10' on each side of the brush pile and then troll between the two markers. On the down trip I will troll past the left marker, on the return trip past the right marker. So by anchoring right on top of my marker he was 10' away from the brush pile.

Wonder if you could put out a dummy marker and trick them into fishing it? That would be funny.
To whom much is given, much is required.

Solution: I've fitted a 50 cal to my front seat post and justify it to fish and game by declaring the "Stand My Ground Law". So far, the fish structures on the lake have increased fish numbers once the oil slick clears.

Shill is right - "You can't fix stupid". They probably thought you was in their spot so they would not mind if you just happened to get their earlier than they did.

That's a bummer not enough room under that bridge. Maybe next time anchor sideways in the boat channel! Make them get their chainsaws out and blaze a new trail!
