One more thing, if you have Snapshot turned on and do not have a memory card in the unit, it will not create a waypoint. You will see "Waypoint Saved" displayed, but no number. When a waypoint is created, the number of that waypoint is displayed when you push the MARK button.

Since we know the folder names that the unit saves to, I wonder if it would be possible to create those folders on a map chip (from a pc) and then use the map chip for snapshots without fear of corrupting it.

Just a thought for those of us running single-slot units. I may run some tests with a map chip.. make some folders, place files in and outside those folders and see what the unit does to everything.

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. Just a thought I had after reading his post.

There is a setting in the full Sonar menu called SI Readouts.
Turn that OFF and when you have full screen SI, you will have depth and temp at the lower left of the view and not in a data box.
ONLY for the FULL SCREEN SI view.

Does anyone have tips for getting the HumViewer to run on a Mac? I downloaded the files and tried to run, had to download some update, but when i try to run It says the file is corrupt and needs to be moved to the trash. Anyone have any suggestions?

It looks like I may be getting s small bit of interference right in the middle of the screen. I see Wayne P's pic has some more on the right center, and mind is on the left center. How does everyone think my settings look on these? Anyone see any fish?

You are not getting any "interference". The unit is recording sonar echos from your boat and from disturbed water coming off the hull as you move forward.
Typically the thin distinct lines on the left side are echos from a jackplate with the SI transducer attached to the right side of it.

The wider blurry line is from the disturbed/aerated water. Same as the one I posted.

Also in the third image, you are going too fast for the transducer position you have. The black lines are due to no water on the transducer. Sonar does not work through air.

I exported data from 999 just fine, then I seperated the recorded movie to a folder that I open with humviewer, and the rest I loaded from the card to humminbird pc. then i cleared the card. Now I would like to put the movie back on the 999 but I cannot get it to show up on the 999. I have 1 folder for the movie called R00008, with the following files B001.IDX & .SON followed by B002 and 003 with same .IDX and .Son files. And then there is one folder called R00008.Dat now I try to put these back on the card and it is a no go for the 999 to show it in the recording view.
Under the humminbird PC, under the .GPX there is one called file R00008 and when I export that entire GPX file back to to SD card it does not work for viewing the recording in the 999. Now I am using the simulator here in the house if that has anything to do with it. I get all the waypoints and tracks back on the unit just fine. Just cannot see the snapshot pics or the movie of the trip.

Snapshots have to be in the Snapshot folder and Recordings have to be in the Record folder.

Just like Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks have to be in the Matrix folder.

Finally got to take my new Helix 5 out on the water this weekend! This is my first advanced fish finder, moved up from an eagle 320...

Brought back some recordings to play through humviewer:

Are the floating masses in this picture bait balls? I was in windy/choppy water in about 30ft.

Bought a Helix Sonar/GPS. Think the Transducer is a
XNT 9-20-T model. What 10' extension cord will fit it.
7 point connector? It only has (3) male connections
in the end that connects to the Unit.

There is much wisdom on the TFF. Much thanks.
