Unfortunately the gentleman may not even realize it.

A co-worker was at a Bar & Grill here in Snyder this past Friday evening, can't think of the place for nothing being its such a huge town and all.

This young man shows up to the place all excited to get his dad who I believe was listening to a band.

Co-worker hears the story and goes outside to take a look. Turns out to be a giant bass head down in a 5-gallon bucket full of water. The man says he just relocated from Kansas and decided to go fish from the shore. Said this was the first time he has ever fished the lake.

Co-worker snapped this picture, can see Snyder courthouse in the background, and said this is the biggest fish he's ever seen and has caught some double digits out of Alan Henry.

According to the young man, the fish weighed 15.25 lbs.

No way of verifying it. Don't think he knew anything about the SAL program. Would like to believe I would have taken measurements and pictures and turned her loose, but I can't honestly say I could do it if I didn't have a tape for proper measurements. I imagine the fish is in his freezer awaiting being dropped off at the taxidermist. I don't blame the man one bit.

I don't know if the fish was truly 15.25 lbs, but regardless, I congratulate the young man on a beautiful fish.

From the looks of the tail, it looks like I made a bad decision by focusing my efforts on the ends of points in 30-40' of water this weekend!

I'm trying to protect his identity so he doesn't receive any death threats from keeping her.

Do they even have any certified scales out by the lake now?

Well record is 15.00 if I recall from 2006.
So if it's that big then yes. It's a biggun that's for sure.
He is pretty happy lol...

Dang I was hoping for a nice quiet day of fishing out there next week.

Haha, seriously though, that fish is huge. That weight and fish is defiantly possible on that lake... even from the shore.

Hate to see her go, but it's his fish, he can do whatever he wants with it.
