Do I need to install the support post that supports the bracket from the floor ? I would just as soon leave it off.

It takes a lot of stress off the bracket in rough water and I would guess also when you're trailering.

I guess you could go without it

roflmao glad you figured out what he was talking about. Yes sir, I would, I am about to have my new 1199 bolted to a bracket I found from a company called "Precision Sonar". Google them.
Goes in front of the TM pedal. You don't want that rascal vibrating, or worse leaning over to the deck!

I went with a Ram mount for my Fortrex when Cabelas put it on sale. Easy to mount and holds the TM head dead still in rough water but not a quick release type of deal if you're mounting/unmounting every time you move.
