Finishing up a 15 hour drive to fslcon lake from nm. Plan on fishing the Mexico side only....first question is does anyone buy w Mexico license? I want to but fishing buddies are saying why waste the money. Also, has anyone been there recently with tips or info on what's working? Been three years since I've been here and would just like a jump on what's happing. Thanks in advance for any info.

I would hate to get caught over there with out one. With all the money you are spending to have a good time the cost of license is not much for a little insurance.

Spend the money and get the license.

Curious as to why you want to fish the Mexico side exclusively?

Brandon,

We usually do better on the Mexico side but am definitely open for suggestions. We are currently debating weather to head to the north or south end. Hoping for some local advice.

Buy the license!!! It's cheaper then losing your boat and staying in jail.

Stop by Falcon Lake Tackle. James will give you all the updates and will point ya in the right direction. I'd get the license, ya have to get the Tx. one to, better than taking a chance. I've been checked on occasion.

BUY THE LICENSE!!!!

I have been checked on both sides and even with the Mexico license the federalies will give you the third degree. I would hate to htink what they would be like if you did not have a license.

Be safe. Leave your firearms locked up on the Texas side, and buy the Mexico license! Try Salinillas Cove, the first big cove north of the dam across the lake. Some big bass in there, and also on the dam rip rap. Go catch some big girls, and enjoy Texas.

I can tell you the chance of getting checked by a Mexican Game Warden is pretty much non-existent but it does happen. Mexico does not have near the investment Texas/USA has in law enforcement of any type. But why not purchase the license simply because Mexico law says you need one to fish in their waters?

a mexican license is a lot cheaper than losing your boat, which is what will happen if you happend to get checked by the mexican authorities.

i have a friend that guides there and he has been checked more than once. the other thing he stressed is that it is important for everyone in the boat to have a valid license. he knew of a boat that got checked, and one person in the boat did not have a mexican license, and they took the boat. needless to say, if he is taking anyone over into mexico, he checks everyone's license.

It would be idiotic to not buy a Mexican license. It's around 35 bucks, pretty cheap insurance to keep your boat and stay out of a Mexican jail.
I would tell anyone in my boat that they had to stay on the bank if they didn't want to buy one.

I know the person whose boat was confiscated. He got it back eventually, but it was damaged when they dragged it up on the flatbed. I also cost him several thousand $$. It was his young son who didn't have a fishing permit. This happened several years back, but why take a chance? Like he said, it is the law. If your friends don't want to buy a license, let them bring their own boat, or fish only on the U.S. side.

Why doesn't the Texas Game warden confiscate vehicles or boats when he find Illegal Aliens fishing in Texas?

I know it waste of time to issue them a ticket, but at least they could seize some property.
