I have heard Daingerfield SP is a good lake for pickerel and I have read pickerel are supposed to be good fish for winter fishing.

I'm asking for advice on fishing Daingerfield SP(or any other good pickerel lakes closer to Tyler)such as areas to target from the bank, good lures to use and any other suggestions, advice, ideas on targeting pickerel.

Thanks in advance.

Lake Hawkins also has them, we normally catch them when bass fishing with a spinner bait or jerk bait.

If you can find Lillie's, they will be in them ready to ambush. Have caught a ton of them on small spinnerbaits.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Thanks for all the information. I caught one years ago in Arkansas but that was the only one.

I thought spinnerbaits/bright colors/shallow water/weed edges/lilies were the keys. I appreciate all the info and I forgot about Lake Hawkins! Not much public access to Hawkins if I remember correctly.

Chains at Daingerfield are a GoTo every year for the fly fishing community. This year's no different. We should be heading toward the end of primetime about now, but this cold helps. As per fly, we use red/white a lot, and flies that can run from right under the surface to 3 feet on the sink. Standing on a kayak gives you a distinct advantage! You can see them chase and take, which is cool but hard on the nerves. Anyway, it's a pretty place with lots of stinkin' chain pickerel.

Nice video flycaster. Watching my buddies and this guy flyfishing standing in these little yaks makes me realize I would just go ahead and jump in the water and get it over with...that's where I would end up anyway! Cool video.

Are they any good to eat?

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โ€œI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโ€™s a storybook, man.โ€

yes they are good fighters. dont know about the eating part.

They do seem to like spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. They will do a number on the skirts. I think they are fun to catch since they are a bit different and not in many Texas lakes.

Freshwater barracuda! Never knew they were found this far south, thought they were a cold water fish like trout, pike & muskie. Used to catch lots of them when I was a kid up in DammYankeeland. They'll hit anything that moves. Good eating white meat but real bony.
