I've been looking at buying a Lowe Stinger Series 170W aluminum boat w/ a 70 - 115HP Yamaha.

Wondering if anyone has one of these boats or has had one in the past, and how well did you like it. Would you buy another Lowe?

Also wondering if the difference in price between a 70HP and up to a 115HP (115 being the max for this boat)is really worth the money.

No matter what, 70HP is the smallest I want, but should I spend a little more and at least go with about a 90HP or should I go for broke with a 115HP???

I plan to have this boat for many years, and do not want any regrets of not getting enough when I had the chance.

Thanks,

Marc

Go big with the motor. I'll never again go small with HP to try and save a few bucks.

I have adeep v hull 17 foot lowe the has been most satisfactory for me since purchased new in 1992. At present i have a 50 4 stroke mercury on it that replaced a 70 evinrude and I like the change. Both engines are ok for me as I fish alone most of the time but more than one person they are slightly under powered. The lowe hull has been very good for comfort, durabilty and maintainance. I would buy another and probably go to more horses in a 4 stroke.

Go with maximum rated horsepower for the boat. Always!!
