goes into effect today.
In Texas now you get a VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report) when you get your inspection done. No window sticker. You need to show the VIR when you register your vehicle.
If your registration expires in a different month before the inspection you just have to show you have the sticker or inspection. Then you get a pass till the next year when you register your vehicle. Example: If your registration expires in March but your inspection expires in July you go get your registration paid and put your sticker on. The next time you need to have your vehicle inspected would be next March.

Go to this site http://twostepsonesticker.com/ and use the "Calculate My Date" tab to figure out when you need to have your vehicle inspected. Really cool! I learned that 2 of my vehicles that I renewed the registration on in January and February had inspection stickers that expired this month. I don't have to get them inspected till within 90 days of January/February of 2016.
