What are the differences between the HB 899 SI and the HB 999 SI besides the bigger screen?

I am trying to decide whether the 999 unit is worth spending the extra $300 to buy.

yes... screen size.

i have the 999SI. i wish i have a bigger screen like the 1199 but that was too expensive. but yes you will get screen envy when you see those big screens lol... so get the biggest you can afford.

Another difference is the included transducer.

The 899 comes with the smaller Compact SI transducer XNT 9 SI 180 T (cheaper).

It can support the same transducer that comes with the 999
XHS 9 HDSI 180 T.

The HDSI is 2" longer and produces a thinner Imaging pulse which produces a sharper image.
It is about $85 more with exchange.

With Side Imaging, BIGGER is better since the size of displayed subjects is based on the SI Range setting.
2D and DI are based on the depth.

So the difference in price is closer to $200 than $300 when you consider the added transducer.

I guess I will need to go into BPS and see if they have display units so I can see the difference in screen size.

Not to mention, till 3/31, you get the $200 rebate card for the 999. Not sure, is the rebate good for the 899?

Just checked online, and the rebate is not good for the 899. So if you figure the $200 card and the $85 transducer, with shipping to ship yours back, they are basically about the same price. I would at least get the 999. I went through the same debate between the 999 and the 1199.

I am going to get the 999 since there is so little difference in price between the two.

I love to get the 1199 for the bigger screen with these tired old eyes. But I can't convince myself to spend that much on a fish finder at this time.

However I am planning on upgrading the 597 that I will placing on the bow with a larger unit next year. Maybe by then I will be able to talk myself into spending the bigger bucks for the 1199.

I do envy that big screen.
