I was thinking of spending some time on Lake Athens around the beginning of April. Would anyone have any suggestions as far as a place to stay that is boat friendly. At that time of the year do you think the fish will already be post spawn or still staging up. I appreciate any suggestions.

Holiday Inn express is the newest in town.I would not leave much in boat,no need taking a chance. You should be finding fish in all phases of spawn then.

Several nice hotels from inexpensive to over-priced.
None are very battery charging friendly. Some do not have much in the way of parking for truck--trailer rigs. Most are well lit.
"Spawn" depends on the fish and the weather.
Lake is full,,, water temp back to mid-40s*,,,,, as of Saturday afternoon.
No SALs this year,,,,,, fishing pressure should be reduced somewhat from last year.
Bring light action gear and the typical lake Athens 2.5--4# bass are a lot of fun to catch.

Someone could chime in on this, but would staying at Purtis Creek be boat friendly?

Super 8 in Athens has special rates for anglers, with a big parking lot and boat plug-ins.
