 Got into a few hogs today

Water temp- 48 degrees/overcast and raining Jig- Slab Bandit blue ice Depth- 19ft. Pattern- ambushing schools of shad Went to Naconiche this morning to brave the rain and cold. Fished for trash fish for most of the time, then got bored and found some really nice crappie! This female was not even 14", but weighed 1lb 14oz. She was about to explode with eggs.    Caught seven keepers in about 30 minutes. Had to give them away because I got a call from my wife saying her back had gone out, so I had to get home.

I hope your wife's back problem is short term.
Bad backs can take you out of action for months at a time and even longer if surgery is required.

They're the meanest fish I've ever caught too. They originally stocked 300 adult crappie in this lake. That was about 3 years ago. It's is LOADED with crappie now, and 90% have that black stripe down their nose. These fish have grown very very fast and are very aggressive. The only problem is narrowing down all the structure.
