Happy Sunday all!
I seem to have spent the better part of this crappy weather weekend watching DVR'ed fishing shows and being generally lazy.
I caught a Timmy Horton Outdoors where he was catching a lot of fish on a wake bait. Looked like a square bill but doesn't dive. I guess it works a bit like the old Rapala broken back minnow.
I haven't tried one of these but I would think that it would be quite good this spring before the grass grows to the water surface. I mostly fish Caddo so I think before late summer this thing might be good. I like the bulky profile.
Anyone use these was any regularity? What are your thought if so?
Thanks!

Post spawn when the top water bite just starts and the fall is when I have the best luck with them

Yes. Lucky Craft RC/LC 1.5/2.5 Wakers...I have good luck on them this time of year shallow around dying/emergent vegetation when the fish are almost ready to spawn. Surface temps from 48 to 50+
Ordered a few more brands thursday and im anxious to try them. H20 xpress makes some good ones too but I believe they are only offered in a saltwater pattern now.

They were eating it really well before this cold stuff came in. If you have any kind of shallow grass or pad stems and 50+ degree water they'll bite it.

The Megabass Knuckle 60 is both a traditional squarebill but with a click of the bill it becomes a wakebait. The bill is extremely durable and has held up to crashing into wood, docks and rock just fine for me.
I think Jay nailed it pretty well above in the time frames he uses them. They are killer postspawn baits too. Another good toime to throw them is the shad spawn.

I just bought some Yo Zuri's that look really good. Ive had some good luck with the H2O brand wakebaits in the past and the old Manns Minus 1's.
