With the lakes in Central Texas being primarily rock bottom and having lost a couple of fluke anchors, box anchors are starting to get my attention. Are you less likely to lose one from fouling than a conventional type anchor? Also, are they available commercially and if not who makes them for a reasonable price? I assume from the posts I've read about them that a 12"X12" would be sufficient for a SeaArk 1872. I seldom fish in high winds, so that would not be an issue as far as holding power.

Those box anchors are getting more popular around here in North Texas, where the lakes are soft mud bottom,so they can dig in and hold pretty well, but since they don't weigh all that much,I don't know how well they would work on rock hard bottoms, but probably wouldn't lose em as easily. All the ones I've seen were homemade .
