Is there any such thing as a sun block that doesn't have the stuff in it that repels fish?

Or burns your eyes?

i use the spray bull frog. dont spray it on your hands or around your fishing gear

Bullfrog is a very good sunscreen but is hard to find the last couple years. I have seen the spray, but that is all I can find.

The UV clothing, seriously. Started wearing the shirts two years ago and the buff last year. Much more comfortable fishing in the heat too. I have one that is the lotion type, that I use on my feet if wearing flip flops. Spray type doesn't come aboard anymore. Ruined a nice fish finder with the spray type.

I have switched to the UV clothing also. Its a pain at first but you get used to it. Still need block on spots there is just no way around it. I use Banana Boat 50 and it seems to do fine but no way around the smell. I put it on with gloves and then take the gloves off.

I developed some sort of allergy to most sunscreens, so I've gone to the UV clothing as well. Works for me.

Simms makes a sunblock that has no fragrances. It's what most of the guys I've been fishing with have been using.

Reading about UV clothing, I'm thinking clothing doesn't cover your face or hands, the primary areas where I need sun screen.?????

I hate sunscreen, not to mention the cancer causing chemicals in most of it.

pants, long sleeve shirt, gloves, buff, hat = looking like a bass ninja, but it works.

I have gone to UV clothing too. Here is my system:

1. Hat. Simple enough

2. Buff style face mask. I use Buff and Free Fly brands.

3. Long sleeve sun shirt. Many good brands out there and I have tried most. The best and lightest for the heat of the summer is made by a company called Free Fly. Their clothing is made out of bamboo and it is LIGHT while still providing excellent sun protection. It is almost like not having a shirt on because the shirt is so light and breathable. Check them out for sure.

4. Dr. Shades sun gloves.

5. Light weight pants. Usually if you go check out the flats fishing/Saltwater section you can find some very light and breathable pants that are fine for the summer.

My one cheat is that I LOVE wearing flip flops, so usually I just lather up my feet with the strongest sun screen I can find. However, sometimes even that isn't enough in the dead of summer. For those days when I want to wear flops but my feet are taking a beating (and don't laugh but it works) get some light weight, light color (tan perhaps) dress socks to put on once the sun gets too brutal on your feet. I am talking about those very thin ones. Of course the other alternative is to wear shoes.

And don't forget to have plenty of Aloe Vera on hand for when you get off the water.
