I am going to mount a swim ladder on the center console before the weather warms up and I have been shopping around. I have noticed some swim ladders have two grab rails and are sold as, "inboard/outboard ladders.' Others have one grab rail and are sold as, "outboard ladders." I would prefer the two rail version but I have an outboard. I believe my boat is wide enough that the second rail would not interfere the motor. Does anyone know of any other considerations for choosing the inboard/outboard version?

Use stainless steel bolts instead of screws. Seal the holes with 3M 5200 Marine Sealant. The 2 rail ladders are designed for a flat transom typically found on a IO. It may not fit your transom if it not flat. I had to custom build one to fit my old Fishmaster Bayboat. The transom was not flat. I like the telescoping ladder. Get a 4 step ladder if you can, much easier to use.

I mounted that type ladder on my Sea Pro. Works great, can be deployed from the water if you fall overboard. As stated above, use bolts not screws, especially on the top. Stainless Fender washers are a good idea too.
