I've been experimenting with some off shore planer boards. Just a couple times last year. Hope to do alot more this year. You can really cover alot of water with them. It was either 2013 or 2014 a couple of guys from up north smoked'm at the big crappie masters tournament. Its on you tube along with other planer board videos with helpful info.

I have used them a lot for stripers and walleyes. What would you like to know, if you like PM me.

I use offshore inline planer boards.

I think I am going to use one this spring to hit the shallow water as I troll. I'll have two poles straight back and one on a planer toward the shore with about 4-6 ft of line from the board. That way, it I have to stop and reel in a fish I won't hang up with the shallow rod.

I think if you put a bunch of planers out in a texas lake you will probably catch a jet ski or a bass fisherman zipping into the cove for three casts before basting out again. I'd would not use more than two and you should keep them fairly close in unless you are totally alone on the lake.
