I have seen this once at a pond. Separated them and they went about their day.

Think about all the weird things that can happen in nature within a one day and we are only going to see glimpses of it. Lucky find, i think competing for same meal is more plausible.

I often shuddered at the thought, that if bass got as big as sharks it wouldn't be safe to swim in any water that had them.

Was on Amistad with JC Gwynne a few years back and saw the same thing. Have seen a few similar issues with large Crappie or Bluegill stuck in their mouths too.

Rick Clunn has a saying about black bass: If bass were the size of sharks, humans would not survive. Heard a similar quote from Jimmy Houston "If LMB were the size of sharks no one would get into the water".

 This was @ 4#er on Falcon a few years back with a huge crappie she couldnt get down. Unfortunately it was too late.

Found two bass like that last on Rayburn during the big bass splash, pulled them apart and they both swam off!
