Here's some insight from an Elite series pro who lives just south of us in DFW.

Alton kept looking behind him, like it wasn't snowing in front of him. Funny.

That guy can flat out fish.

so what about crappie and water temps? With the snow, sleet and cold rain the temps in the creeks and shallows must have dropped significantly, will it affect crappie?

Remember this, someone is always catching them. If fish are shallow they will hunker down close by, with these cold snaps.

I would think they would be gone
and or be lock jawed to beat the band
except for in a muddy creek I hit after the ice storm
they were there and biting
go figure

I think what Alton is saying is that - If the fish have already moved into the shallows, they are not going to move back out 100's of yards just because of a snow day. Bass and crappie are more influenced by the spawning urge. They may not bite as readily due to high barometric pressure, but they are still there.
I'm sure more folks have examples after ice storms or snow days in muddy creeks or shallows. cool
Some big bass are caught in shallow -cold- muddy water in winter/early spring.

Just a thought from an Elite Series Pro.

Good luck! and good fishing!

And moving shallow is a relative term. If they left 35-40 FOW to move to a staging area in 15-25 FOW, they did move shallower.

I love watching/reading this from in front of my warm fire place, sipping hot buttered rum, or something like that - and feeling the "thump"! popcorn2
