I have always used a Medium Heavy and it seems to work. What is everyones method on how they run the lure? Hard and fast? Slow and Steady with pauses? Curious to hear everyones opinions.

Throw it on a 7 ft 11 in, 13 fishing cranking rod, 12 lb line, 5.1 gear ratio. Crank fast in summer with pauses, slow in cold water with pauses.

I use an Dobyns 805 CB RM with an Abu Winch but there are many other rods made for it. Usually 15-17 fluorocarbon line.

I've caught them cranking it hard more consistently with erratic retrieve and various pauses but the best bite I've found was post spawn fish eating it as it deflected of brush and stumps so I had to more less feel the bait through the terrain. That"s what little I know and only got on a good bite with it a few times. It's about getting the bait in the right part of the water column is what I believe it boils down to.

Power tackle makes the best 10XD rod in my opinion but they are very proud of it. Basically any 7'6"+ medium heavy moderate rod will do. Some people like glass, some people don't care. A good rod makes all the difference though. I spent a couple days throwing them exclusively and man is that a forearm workout with a 7' medium action cranking rod!

Dobyns 806CB and the Power Tackle XLC-3-7'11 are the two best I have used. I give the Power Tackle the nod because its a Texas company.

I like the 805 RM CB. Strange, but the 10XD doesn't pull much more than 6XD.

I love the Falcon 7'9" XD Cranker- Great Action and for such a big stick does not wear you out. I use 15lb flouro and a very erratic retrieve in summer and early Fall and most fish hit it on the pause after hitting structure.

Cashion 10XD. I have tried several and it is by far the best for me!!! As far as retrieve it all depends. early post spawn I just crank normal with a Revo Winch with pauses at times. A month later when the bass get 30'+ I switch to a 7.1 ratio on the same Cashion rod to help assist when sprolling to get the bait down to them.

I've only used the 805CBRM and 806. They both can handle it, but the 806 is noticeably better. Heard nothing but great things about the Power Tackle rods too...

So what is the real difference between the new 8XD and 10XD?

With all do respect I disagree.

I have found the 10x to pull quite a bite harder than the 6's.

Just my experince.

That's what I use.
