I must be missing something here...Why can't you just power up the rest of the way onto the trailer with the boat motor? Boat too heavy for that? Maybe some plastic sliders on the bunk boards would help...I been thinkin about doin that on mine to make it easier.

i rubbed a whole can of turtle wax on my bunk boards about 3 months ago and you would not believe the difference. powers onto the trailer with very little throttle and can crank by hand very easy. its really pretty amazing. not sure how much it would help with a bad back but it makes loading a lot easier. just don't unlatch it when launching before the boats over the water. your boat will be sitting on the ramp.

check that winch out at Harbor Freight, just might be what you need. Gander Mountain is fixing to open in Killeen, they might have some good prices at first. Have you looked at Academy yet. Sometimes they got some good deals. When you get that thing hooked up, it will sure help you on those cranks to secure your boat.

I like this idea...Is your hull aluminum or fiberglass? and bunk boards carpeted or bare ? Mine is aluminum on bare wood...Thought it would slide better that way than on carpet, but still doesn't slide easy enough.

mine are carpeted, 20' aluminum boat. you wont believe the difference it makes. they say its better to get a can of parrifin wax from the grocery store then take a little butane stove to the lake and heat it up an pour it on the boards. i didn't have patience for all that. threw a can of green turtle wax on it and now its slicker than snot. cant speak to how well it would work on bare boards.

Yeah,It probably needs that carpet to have something to stick to...Think I'll try that next.I just jack up one side at a time and do it at home.

Good info! I am going to try this, and I'll be sure not to un-hook or release the winch ahead of time. LOL

"Liquid Rollers", sold at Academy is what I spray on my carpet bunks. This stuff is like a miracle. I used to have trouble powering my center console up the trailer but not since I sprayed them with Liquid Rollers. Be careful and DO NOT unhook the winch on the ramp. People have lost boats and jets skis on the ramp. This stuff works that well and is only $10 for a can. Good luck.
