Hit the road this morning with the idea of slaughtering some bass on Martin Creek. It was a lot slower going than I had hoped. Electricity out in parts of Henderson, the part where I'd hoped to eat breakfast at the McDonalds. bang

The lake looked good with a few clear spots up against the bank, very few. bang

Made it near launch site by bridge on warm water side of lake and determined I could safely make it down to water but would never make it back out. bang Sat and pondered the situation until deciding it wasn't worth the risk of spending the evening with a tow truck. The steep road down to the launch was covered in snow and there are a couple of deep ruts that if I slid off into I wasn't getting out of going up the steep incline. As bad as I hated to, I got back in and headed back across the bridge. Once on the other side I stopped and reconsidered. I could park on side of road and carry kayak on my head the hundred yards to water. Turned around and went back. I parked first, as close to road shoulder as I dared, got out and looked how much room someone coming across bridge would have and decided I risked getting side swiped or possibly a ticket. Got back in to leave and was nearly stuck where I was. Took a few tries as back end of jeep wanted to slide further off shoulder but finally made it back on pavement. bang

Drove over to the state park and looked around, thought about what the downside would be to making the long paddle to warm water side from there if gps quit working. Between that and possibly falling down while loading or unloading kayak, I decided to give it a no go. I don't heal as fast as I used to.

I should have played golf.

A good rule of angling philosphy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
