What's the biggest difference between ski gear and gore tex? Has anyone tried ski bibs for rain or cold weather?

Water proof is the biggest difference. I have fished in ski bibbs before and they are comfortable in cold weather. Warm with good mobility but the nylon is not water proof. A good Gortex suit will keep you dry all day long in a pouring rain. I have a friend that skis in his Guidewear Gortex Bibbs.

The ski bibs they sell at academy are great. I usually don't wear mine unless it's VERY cold. They do repel water pretty good. However, hard to be a gore-tex rain suit

Ski bibs are not usually water resistance and usually they won't breath either GoreTex will keep you dry and will breath.

Rain bibs with layers on underneath. Best way to go.
